Liner Notes

The award-winning film of the amazing story of Ramblin' Jack Elliott, produced and directed by Jack's daughter, Aiyana Elliott.  Documents his almost mythical life, from Jack's unlikely roots as the son of a Jewish doctor in Brooklyn, running away at 15 to join the rodeo, becoming Woody Guthrie's companion, Bob Dylan's friend and mentor; his European years where he became a major inflluence on the Rolling Stones and other British rockers, to his present life as one of the last of the singing cowboys and an inspiration for so many roots-based performers.

What began as Aiyana Elliott's travels with her father to bring to light the myths of the great rambler in action becomes the poignant tale of daughter's search for a dad who was rarely at home.

Weaves stellar performances from the past and near-present, including incredible performances of Jack on the Johnny Cash Show, rarely-seen home movies from the Guthrie family's private collection, combined with candid interviews of friends and past wives, and live-action travelling. Includes trucks, boats, horses, RV's and lots of songs.

Features Arlo Guthrie, Johnny Cash, Kris Kristofferson,  Pete Seeger, Odetta and Dave Van Ronk.

Winner of the Sundance Film Festival Special Jury price for Artistic Achievement, 2000.

112 minutes, rated PG-13.
